NBD Dean Edge 5 (used)

I had a great experience at Guitar Center today buying this used Dean Edge! I traded in two Kala's towards it, plus it came with a hardshell case.

The backstory: A few weeks ago I sent in my EHB for some warranty work, and learned the part needed won't arrive until the end of the month  I thought I could get by with my two Kala Ubasses but it just hasn't been the same. Plus the neck dive on them was driving me CRAZY. I'm a hobby player who occasionally jams with friends, so I knew I didn't need another $$ bass. Did some browsing on local used gear and decided to head to GC. So glad I did!

Here is the twist, I'm a short-scale enthusiast and a "weight weenie", but this long scale won me over!

Don't give up on the sub short scales yet. The market for them is expanding and there are more than a few options these days. I have a Flight Mini Bass that I'm quite happy with. The build quality, fit and finish are all very good.

As for neck dive, it has a smallish headstock, reasonably light tuners, and the strap button projects out to between the 9th and 10th frets.

I had one of those . It’s my first 5 string. Same finish . Mine had emg pickups .
I think I traded it for an electric blue Cort Curbow 5.

Me too although mine was a 4 string. I don't remember what I traded it for but when I see old pictures of me playing it I am reminded how beautiful it looked under stage lights. If I were to see another one in mint condition in that color I would seriously think about it.

Wow, great figuring and color! Do you know what they call that finish?
How does it sound?
If I remember correctly it was called Quilted Amber Burst. And the model was called Edge Q4.

Beautiful bass OP. Congratulations.

That's sweet sir. Scale length? That is nice figuring. Is that a maple top? Wow.. love a nice natural finish. You say you're a weight weenie, what's it weigh vs. what's your preference? Nice enough to make an exception to your preferences no doubt. Bet it chugs. 😎

35" scale, around 9lbs 3oz (but who knows with a bathroom scale), and yes I believe it is a maple top. My preference is closer to 7lbs, my main bass is 30-32" multiscale and 7lbs 2oz because I am small

Yep - nice enough that it's worth it! I'll post a video of it once I finish getting it set up. Put some new strings on last night and letting the truss rod work its magic.

I got the one i used to have in a terrible state, missing truss rod cover, mile high action etc. It was being sold on consignment and it looked good and made sound so i made a stupid offer which was accepted. Had it adjusted and playing sweet in 30 minutes!. Kept it for a while but couldn't get behind the sound so traded it. I had forgotten what a pretty and well made bass that was.
