NBD! Don't call it Superman

My new band requires me to have a 5 string. Old band didn't and like an indiot I traded my 5 about 6 months ago.
I went pawn shop hunting and found my 5. I'm a certified Carvin lover, my 2 main guitars are a 1988 Carvin DC200 and a 2006 SC90 I will be buried with. So, to stumble upon a nice SB5000 was pure luck.
It's got some nice upgrades I was looking for in any bass: Stainless steel frets, EMG X Series Jazz pickups, a birdseye fretboard that's gorgeous, and a neck profile that fits me perfectly.
The Signature on the back is of Todd Harrell of Three Doors Down (The Superman logo with the 3). He is currently serving 10-15yrs in prison for a multitude of drug and weapons charges. It's on the back of the headstock so I'll leave it alone.
I am very impressed with these pickups, they sound like great jazz pickups with more headroom and DEAD silent.
Best part: $500.00 out the door.

$500 beans! Seriously?
Yep. Pawn shops around here are either waaaaayyyy overpriced or underpriced due to lack of knowledge. This shop is one of the better ones. In fact I've cultivated a nice relationship with them and have helped them out when they've had instrument questions. Just like Rick on Pawn Stars.. I'm "the guy" they call with questions.
This bass was tagged at $699.00 , still a deal but I always ask for a deal, if they can. They knocked $200 off and I said, " Wrap it up, sold."

$500 is a steal for that bass. I know Carvin basses are undervalued on the market, but those are exceptional basses.

I'm a huge fan of EMGX jazz bass pickups, but I have to say that finding them in an SB5000 seems odd. Carvin often gets panned for the sound of their electronics package, but IMO the stock package on the SB5000 bass was exceptional. The EMGX jazz pickups are incredible, though, so it is hardly a step backwards.

I played Carvin for over 20yrs...
Man I miss those basses. Best playing and sounding basses for the buck. (my wife actually LOVED those basses too)
I may need to start looking for another again.
Great deal and congrats!
