Hey everyone. After being fortunate enough to acquire several preowned Elricks, I came to the conclusion that his work is among the absolute best in the world. I put him in a class of maybe 4 or 5 builders at the top of the bass-building food chain, and would argue that given his quality, prices, customer service, and insanely quick build times, his are the best basses that money can buy.

Having come to that conclusion, I decided to finally commission a custom build. The result was predictably awesome. My new eVolution Gold fiver:

I want to thank Rob again for working with me, and for his great work in general. This guy is a perfectionist, grinding out perfect basses one after another. His in-stock pages at elrick.com are a constant threat to the balance of my bank accounts.

Awesome looking bass for sure and I myself have been wanting to try his basses. Question for you though, What other high end basses have you owned to compare this to? I've tried to buy a couple used ones but haven't closed the deal so to speak lol. Congrats on that beauty.

I have been admiring Elricks for a while now..have been wanting the jazz bass version..looks like its coming in right at 3K in price..have not had the opportunity to personally hear what they sound like..but would trust the quality of the instrument..did you get yours with bartolini pickups..it was the one item I wasnt sure about..never really have been a fan of those..didnt know if these were specially wound..definately didnt want one with a lot of sparkle on the high end..would really be a fan of some nice warm LOW end..........here is the one that has my interest.....Invalid Link Removed

Right now I have a Le Fay, Marleaux, Alleva Coppolo, Manne, Wood & Tronics, Cliff Bordwell, and some other stuff. In the past, several Roscoes, Spector, Paul Lairat, Vigier, Zon, F Bass, R Bass, M Bass, Kenneth Lawrence, Pavel, Aquilina, Lakland, Citron, Modulus, Kinal, some others. All great builders, and I was quite happy with each instrument. You can't go wrong with anyone on that list, and there are a few big name builders missing that are certainly world class. Fodera, Mike Tobias and Sadowsky come to mind. Just haven't had the opportunity to try them yet.

Mine does have standard Barts. I wouldn't call myself a fan of Barts either, but I have them in 3 of the 4 Elricks that I have right now, and they all sound great. The NJS that you are considering has standard J's, so you can cheaply and easily swap different ones to dial the sound in if you wanted to. That's a great looking NJS, by the way.

Then like what you are sying man is that you have no experience in this area? :)

Holly crap that’s a nice list!

I guessed correctly! Do you know the weight? I`m always amazed at how light he makes them.

Congratulations!
It is in the high 7 pound range. Two out of the four I have are in the 7's, the other two are very low 8's. Crazy.

How’s the B string (if that’s how it’s strung) on the Elrick?
His B strings are fabulous. That is the trick with a five, making the B feel and sound like part of the family. He obviously put a lot of time in to making that work.
