I traded in a Warwick Rockbass Corvette to Sam Ash and picked up this 2017 Epiphone Embassy Pro bass. It looks practically brand new, with only 1 minor ding I can find on the headstock, and came with this custom fit case. Overall, a great trade in as I never really bonded with the Warwick - different shape or smaller body size, I’m not sure, but it never felt right in my hands (I’m a really big guy).
This bass, however, feels, plays and sounds great! Cleaned it up, oiled the fingerboard, put on a Hipshot Drop D extender I had laying around, added more foam and springs under the pickups, installed some Rotosound 55 Pressurewound strings, tweaked the truss rod, and adjusted the string height and intonation.
The best thing about this bass is that it has the same humbucking pickups and electronics (volume, blend and tone) as the ones in the Thunderbird bass. I had a TBird years ago but sold it due to the neck dive - when standing with the bass on a strap, the neck dives to the floor due to the weight imbalance caused by the reverse body profile. I did enjoy the unique TBird tone, which this bass also has, but without the neck dive.
