I picked one up a few months ago.

The yosemite pickups are nice.

I love the greasebucket as well. First usefull tone knob I have had on a J or P.

So if you took 300 off that sticker, did you walk away with an American Fender for $1199? In todays day and age? Be still my beating heart that's what I was looking at 13 years ago before everything went through the roof!

Sweetwater was dealing in Nov as well. I got mine for $400 off just by calling and asking for best price.

I’ve been wanting one of these ever since I got the Jazz bass in that line! I agree about the pickups but was simply astounded by how awesome the necks in this line are. Congrats!

My main Jazz Bass has a Warmoth body with an Am Perf Jazz neck (and Fralin Split Jazz pickups) and it’s awesome. This neck is so comfortable and easy to play.

Mine doesn’t get the love it deserves right now, my PJ Nash is. But, I love my Performer, awesome neck, greasebucket is gone, but I didn’t mind it at all, long story. The Yosemite pickups definitely have a tone of their own. Mine has seen a ton of gigs since I bought in 2019, think I’ll head home and play it right now.

I had zero intention of buying ANOTHER bass, famous last words... I went to the Music Store here in Tulsa just to look around. I was told take an additional $300 off any MIA and $200 off any MIM Fender guitar or bass. After playing this beauty I decided to bring her home. I wasn't a big fan of the Yosemite pups or greasebucket tone circuit. But I knew that before I bought mine and knew what I would do to remedy that, Aguilar's HC PJ Pup set and a new set of controls using CTS pots and a Switchcraft jack. The neck is great, and the body a little more contoured and a little slimmer than my MIM Player Precision. Overall a great bass and it's a PJ!

I’m so glad to hear you say that, because I’ve always thought mine had a remarkably comfortable body, but I thought it was just in my head. I figured the body shape would be very standard across all models.

The Performer PJ is my number one, and maybe a “forever bass” for me. I put on a rosewood American Standard Jazz neck, but it’s otherwise stock. Fantastic bass—enjoy!

The real question is how is this vs the bbp34?

Tough call! The BBP34 is really sweet. I’d have to give it the edge on build quality and playability so far. Hard to beat the Fender tone though.

I find the necks on BB-series to be more comfortable to me than a P. It's slightly thinner, something between a J and a P neck. It just feels right in my rather small hands.
