NBD: Fender American Performer Precision

I had zero intention of buying ANOTHER bass, famous last words... I went to the Music Store here in Tulsa just to look around. I was told take an additional $300 off any MIA and $200 off any MIM Fender guitar or bass. After playing this beauty I decided to bring her home. I actually like the sound of the Yosemite pickups through my SVT. Different but good!

They’re excellent inside. I couldn’t turn it down at that price especially. They also have a 75th Anniversary Fender Jazz that is killer but I already have a Pro II Jazz. Not really a collector because I play em all so I passed on the cool Jazz bass

Thanks! I was on the hunt for a PJ a couple of weeks ago now I own two (Yamaha BBP34 is my other one). I’m a bassaholic!

I can only speak to the Am Pro II Precision that I have and the neck on this one feels close to the same. Love that satin finish on these necks

So if you took 300 off that sticker, did you walk away with an American Fender for $1199? In todays day and age? Be still my beating heart that's what I was looking at 13 years ago before everything went through the roof!

Yes that is correct! He said Fender is after him to order more so he has to move what he has in inventory. This is why I couldn’t pass it up

I also have an American Professional 2 P bass that came from the factory having “accidentally” had a Jazz bass neck installed instead of a P bass (it actually says Jazz bass on the headstock but the serial number calls it a P bass). The Performer feels every bit as good as far as rolled fretboard edges and fret work but it has more of a smooth satin finish on the back that allows my fingers to move a little better. The electronics and wood choice are the only improvements I see on my American Professional 2 vs the American Performer.
