It's New Bass Day! 
A Fender Player Precision, I picked it up at GC today, once I saw that color (Limited Edition Ocean Turquoise), I knew it was coming home with me
...I'm not 100% sold on the tort guard though, don't get me wrong, I love tort on a Precision, but I can't help but wonder what a black, or black pearl, or white pearl would look like. 
I slapped a new set of my usual Chromes on it, and did a slight intonation tweak, other than that this beauty needs nothing...I'm surprised how well it was actually setup, considering it was a GC purchase...
I can't really think of anything I'd change (except possibly the aforementioned pickguard), the bridge is basic bent metal, but it looks just fine, and functions fine too.
The Alnico pickups sound fantastic, they bark with PLENTY of Precision authority, there's no reason to change them, and the pots are solid shaft and operate smooth as glass.
The gloss maple board with a satin finished back is a home run for me, it feels every bit as good as it looks, no sharp fret ends, and the frets are level. The tuners are basic open gear, nothing flashy, but they spin smooth with no roughness.
Fender really put together a nice bass here, and it plays so nice, I'm stoked to gig this beauty!
Now, is it as nice as an "MIA" Precision? Well I guess that would depend on which MIA Precision you have...I've had some real POS American standards before, and this bass is WAY better than those, and I do believe it's quality & playability is certainly close to todays MIA basses, but you can see where Fender made "budget decisions" to hit a certain price point. (bridge & tuners for example)...However, for the price, you would be hard pressed to find a better P-bass. IMHO
