If I get an active/passive switch put in, and I'm playing it passive, is the battery still being drained the same way it's being drained if you leave an active bass plugged in on the stand?

Probably, yes (depending on how it's wired now), unless you modify the preamp power circuit. Right now, that circuit uses some connection through the jack terminals to switch the preamp on/off.
With the right type of switch, you could combine active/passive signal switching with preamp on/off in a single unit.
Also note that the existing volume pot(s) might work for passive mode, but you will probably have to add a tone pot, unless you want to run straight out, with no tone control in passive mode.
It's hard to be more specific, without knowing details of your existing wiring. You might get a better reply on the Pickups & Electronics forum, from someone more expert in typical Fender circuit designs.
Playing an itty bitty teeny weeny little bar gig tonight. It sounded great at the rehearsal studio.

Old thread, but I'll chime in because I recently played the five-string version (used, obviously) at a GC, and I was extremely impressed. It was in mint condition and very light, and even though I don't like 9.5" radius fretboards much, especially on fives, I liked the playability. I was also impressed that Fender raised the pickup poles under the middle strings for good balance, which is rare IME. They don't even do this on the Ultra II basses. The tone seemed fine, especially for Fender Noiseless pickups, but that's difficult to evaluate in the environment of a GC bass room. Build quality seemed excellent.

11 ******* years. Jesus. I have no idea what happened to this bass. Probably sold the parts off at a severe loss. God, the money I spent on basses. Thousands. Tens of thousands really. Now I have one sitting on a stand I barely play. I mostly come here to talk about Star Trek and food in Off Topic. How times have changed.
I think it was. All my basses were cool, not that I did anything cool with them. Maybe 10 bar gigs total with my friends cover band when their bass player couldn't make it. So much money, gone, for a shopping addiction.
