you won't regret it ... I went to play for a "few minutes" after I got my kids in bed shortly after 8pm...... when I finally put it down it was almost midnight... it's a joy to play

That's what I use. :D

I just installed a Vintage reverse-wound Hipshot Xtender on it & plan to change my tuning pegs to reverse wound, too. :) Not that the pegs NEED changing. lol

Yah the tuners are great on this. I'm using the neck from the modern player on a MIJ regular jazz body. I'm blown away by the quality of the neck. The frets are perfect. The tuners are better than any MIM I've played, and it's got the truss adjustment wheel.

I unfrankensteined the neck from this that I had on my mij jazz body and put the modern player back together and took it to rehearsal to tonight. I forgot how great it sounds. I just wish it wasn't so heavy. I've heard of people drilling holes under the pickguard to reduce weight. How effective is that? Between that and changing to lightweight tuners, how much weight could in potentially shed? This thing has to weigh at least 11 lbs.

I must have gotten one of the light ones.. the weight is no issue for me.. no more than my regular jazz bass.

I've used this bass for everything from Jesus Christ Superstar, to jazz quartet, jazz duo, gigs and I just keep loving it more and more.. I did a recording session with it yesterday and everyone was really happy with the "pbass" sound I used ( neck pickup on full.. bridge pickup off... tone down 75% ) ... it's got thump but not muddy and cuts through the mix. The producer is looking at buying one for his studio.

I "think" it's close to 19mm, like on the Roscoe Beck V. However, the neck at the last fret is 2-7/8", unlike the RBV which is definitely wider. If you are used to Fender-style spaced instruments it's no issue. I could see that a player that is comfortable on EBMM 5's and Ibanez 5's this may take some getting used to.
