So got it in hand. Loving it. Great shape except for the bridge and saddles are
chrome-bubbly-corroded to where I want to replace them. Don't want to steel wool it all or try and buff it. So I looked for a P Lyte bridge (NOS as well) but no luck at all. NOTE:The pictures are from the vendor, I'll take some later I guess. The rust spot at the 3rd fret is on the old E string (it came with OLD strings), not on a fret.

Would this bridge be OK? 008-1460-000 Chrome Fender High Mass 4-String Jazz P/Precision Bass Bridge | eBay

What would be the best bridge replacement for the P Lyte?

What strings do you Lyte players suggest? I'd like to stay jazz style and think RotoSound jazz strings. ??

I LOVE THAT RED!!!

Of the few I have seen, I have never seen one with a pickguard. Love it as well. Did you put that on when you changed from Fender pups (like I have) to the EMGs?

The EMG pickups were on it when I bought it. It didn't have a pickguard and had gold hardware. It looked nice but I prefer black hardware with the red.

The inspiration for the pickguard came from Nutdog who did a beautiful restoration on his P-Lyte. Search for the thread he created that shows the whole project from start to finish - really nice. His pickguard did not extend over the controls.

I think the P Lyte bridge is perfectly fine on mine I have no problems at all with it, I think it's a quality bridge, Schaller IIRC. I put a 3 band Fodera preamp in mine. I think the pre is the weak link in these basses. Many people change the PUs but I put in Bart's then took them out for another build and put the originals back in, with the Pre swap I think they sound fine. A couple of my bass playing friends love it.
