NBD: Fender Player Jazz Bass (MIM 2019)

Just got a new-to-me Fender Player Jazz Bass in the buttercream finish with maple neck. It's pretty sweet! So far, I'm loving it... a fine example of a j-bass. Super punchy, neck feels incredible (I love J-necks... this one just feels amazing... maybe it's the smooth back? maybe I'm enjoying the maple for a change of pace?)

I happen to be vegan, so instead of "buttercream" I think of this as Earth Balance yellow... so I've named her "Eartha". :laugh:

Congratulations on your new bass!
The color looks very similar (in the photos, anyway) to my Arctic White 1995 MIM Jazz which has faded, and my 2009 SX P-Bass copy which is "Vintage White."
Just from looking at the photos, it seems like it's set up well, too.
Beautiful bass. Enjoy it!
(Congratulations on being a vegan, too. I'm a vegetarian, but just a couple of steps from vegan.)

Yes, the color reminds me of the yellowing that happens to old Fender white guitars/basses. I love that look. It is set up really well, you're right! I haven't felt the need to do a thing so far. And thanks for the vegan love... I mostly get hate, I find!

I'm really impressed with these new Player basses. I previously owned a MIM jazz bass (around 2000?), but this one has more snap to it. I'm sure part of that is the maple neck vs the previous rosewood neck. But it's more than that... Can't put my finger on it yet. Roasted maple necks are gorgeous! I bet it's a beauty.

Yes, I do tend to have a family color thing going on, for sure! Brown in the mix too.

It was a close call with the Geddy Lee. Ultimately, I think I wanted a more "typical", less 70s, J-bass sound. But the Geddy Lee was tempting for sure.
