NBD: Fender Vintera II Telecaster Bass

So...
I had a major G.A.S. attack and couldn´t help to order this bass.
I love telecaster basses and I love that mudbucker tone, even if it isn't for most songs, and since these new Vintera II got out last year I couldn't help feeling a scratch for this Sea Foam Green model.
So I tried fighting these urges but eventually caved in and now I'm a happy owner of a bass that I may only use sparsely but definitely has a space in my colection and in my heart.
I love everything about it, the looks, the neck, the feel, the roar of that pickup!

Congrats! I got one as well. A lot of usable tone simply by changing the volume and tone knobs.
I really love the way it sounds.
I did not love the neck (its a pretty big "U" profile) so I am having mine reduced a bit in size a bit by a luthier.

Just so folks know, this bass has a different neck pocket & 3 bolt attachment so a standard Fender neck will not not fit if you decide to swap it for something different.

Love the looks of them. Not sure I care for the pickup placement. I'd probably prefer it to be back at the typical sweet spot for a single pickup bass. But I've never played one, so maybe the tone would convince me. But I do love both of the colors (green and blonde).

I had an all original 1973 Telecaster bass which looked to have all the same characteristics as yours, but must have had the “mudbucker” pickup.

Cons:
  • Poor ergonomics (no body contours)
  • One tone wonder
  • Kinda’ heavy
  • Not my choice of neck profile

Pros:
  • Consistent tone with any brand, type, or condition strings.
  • Looked cool (TV Yellow)
  • It had good trade value.

Wish I had it back because it’s worth about 2 or 3 times more now than what I traded for, but it wasn’t in the mid 90s….
