Squier Classic Vibe 60's Jazz Jazz.


I've been trying to find one of these for the right price and condition for almost 3 months now.
Glad I waited because this thing is literally brand new with absolutely nothing as far as scratches or scuffs.

Just happened that one popped up in my local Craig's List. I couldn't be happier I love everything about this bass as far as looks go.

I think this will be the bass that's most likely to get a few mods like P'ups, pick guard, better strings and definitely better pots as I'm curious how much they'll change things.
Considering a different bridge and maybe more who knows.
Really it's great just the way it is but I'm curious just how far great can be stretched.

Anyway, thanks for looking and anyone on the fence about getting one, you will not regret it.

The first things that come to mind to explain the difference would be the North & South poles.

They are honestly polar opposites.

The Classic Vibe is a really nice bass, of coarse overall shape is very similar as they are the same bass basically.

It's interesting because they both have the same strings right now, and I put them side by side with the controls on each bass and the amp exactly the same and listened to each string.

Results was very close when just plucking the strings, it's when you actually pick the two up that the major difference is noticed.

The 62 has a very warm,woody,and rich,punchy,crisp,clean tone and sound to it.

Comparable to maybe God passing gas while burping and beating his chest.

The CV Jazz sounds nice but in a different way it's more twangy mixed in with all of the above and to me that twang is very common on almost every bass I've played that is newer.
I'm curious If it's the rosewood difference or frets that cause it.
I played an American Standard USA Fender recently and it too had that sound as well and the CV Jazz reminds me a lot of that Fender.
It's like a clanky kinda sound that doesn't exist with the 62.

If any of that makes sense.

Not bad at all.

It's the first bass that I've bought that isn't exactly 9lbs 2ozs

This one weighs in at 9lbs 4ozs

So not even noticeable really, and it's very well balanced, no neck dive at all and feels great hanging from the strap.

I understood part of it, especially the God farting part. Maybe the twang is from the different electronics?

So far I've been advised that the custom shop p'ups are really good for it.

Also the AVRI series p'ups

And I think Fender Vintage or something IDK gotta figure it out, lots of choices.
I think I'm gonna maybe hold out for some used ones so I can try a few different ones out.

I thought I responded to this, but I guess my phones doing what ever it wants today.

This is the first I've heard of these.

So far I've been advised my best chance of a vintage tone is gonna be either;

Fender's Custom Shop pups,

The American Vintage Re-issue's series pups,

Or I guess there's another vintage set Fender offers, I could be confusing that w/ one already mentioned. Haven't had much time to look into them all.

I think my plan is to hold out and get them used to keep costs down so I can buy a few different sets.
Honestly I like the stock sound just fine, but something tells me there's so much more left to be squeezed out of it.

Quite possible, and I may very well be labeling the sound badly.

Maybe I'll try and do some sound clips later tonight and see if I can pick it up to where it's noticeable.
