I personally believe everyone owes it to themselves to give GHS Pressurewounds a try at least once. They're like roundwounds, but smoother, better, and IMMENSELY fat/punchy with plenty of attack, just very little finger/fret noise and they feel HEAVENLY. I flat out (no pun intended) don't use roundwound strings anymore. Congratulations on your first fiver, I hope it suits you well! That's a pretty tasty Stingray, is that a Special with a roasted neck? Congratulations on that, too, haha! If only they'd give the US Sterling the 'special' treatment, they'd have an instant sale to me. The life of a US Sterling devotee is a painful and solitary existence...Any recommendations for strings?
The cobalt flats are absolutely fantastic, too.Thank you! The D'Addario NYXL's are one of the options I was looking at. I'll have to pick up a set of the EB Cobalt Flats. You make them sound too good.
Any recommendations for strings?
If that ain't awesome, nothing is!!So, my wife and I have been working from home for the last month or so due to all of the craziness going on. We have adapted to completely online shopping for everything. It is not unusual for us to receive several packages per day from UPS, FedEx, USPS etc., for everything from toothpaste and deodorant, to food and clothing. Today, just like any other day, deliveries. One box of four that UPS unloaded looked a little suspect, but my wife said it was a shadow box to go above the headboard. I thought, sure looks like a box that a bass would come in. Weight seemed about right too. Had me fooled... About an hour later her and our daughter walked out with a Yamaha box and a Gator hard case. "Happy Early Father's Day!" They said they had been snooping around my browsing history and my Sweetwater wishlist.
Now, my Sweetwater wishlist had tons of gas! However, I am glad they got what they did. I probably would never have purchased a 5-string on my own however, I have always wanted one.
After tuning and playing for a bit tonight, I am really stoked!
I am excited to throw some new strings on and set her up.View attachment 3808257 View attachment 3808260 View attachment 3808261 View attachment 3808262
Welcome to the dark side.
That is, without a doubt, the best looking incarnation of the entire TRBX series. Congrats on the new acquisition.
Crazy surprise! I mean, I've gotten my Father's Day gift early before, but never before Mother's Day.... You do understand that you are now on the hook for something truly spectacular come May 10th, right?

Sooo, I saw these new Stingray Specials and he bought it to trade me.If you like a Jazz, and you also like a Stingray, might I advise that you give a US Sterling a feel one of these days (please don't cut me into little pieces)? It's like a smaller, lighter, faster Stingray, with a hotter pickup, a little more powerful preamp, and the all-important series/parallel/single switch. They're great (like, best I've ever played, and I've played them all), and might be right up your alley.Thank you. That is a 2019 Stingray Special with the roasted neck. Funny story how I came in to that. I bought a Fender Elite Precision a few years ago with an anniversary check from work. At that time I hadn't held a bass in probably 15 years however, I was ready to get back into it. A year or so after that my bother tore his bicep. My brother was playing a Rickenbacker exclusively at that time and due to the slab style body and poor ergonomics of the bass, simply could not pick. He began gigging with my Elite Precision because it was comfortable enough that he could play it. I tried to trade straight across for the Rickenbacker but he wasn't having itSooo, I saw these new Stingray Specials and he bought it to trade me.
Thinking back to my purchase of the Elite, I still ask myself "Why?". Maybe it is because the one and only bass that I owned and played through school was a Fender Jazz and that is all I ever knew. Nothing wrong with that bass. I performed in musical productions, college groups, even got paid to play once or twice all on the FenderBut, always, as long as I can remember, I was always drawn to the EBMM Stingray.
Anyways, now I have it. Love it. The next bass I buy... Yup, a Fender. Probably a MIA Precision though. Love the sound on flats.

You might have a little bit of a tough time finding one, all anyone ever seems to want or care about is Stingrays and Bongos. They can be found sometimes, though, and I can't recommend them highly enough. They're like a suped-up hot-rod Stingray with the best damn Jazz-style neck I've ever laid a hand on. I usually say that you can do about 95% of what a Stingray can do with a Sterling, but not verse-vice-a.Man, that is the last thing I need right now. Like a hole in the head. I'm gonna have to find one in a shop and play it now...
