NBD for a new bass player, SRFF805

Hey all, first post on TB, but have been lurking for a bit. One of the bands I played guitar in needed a bass more than three guitar players, so I stepped up to the plate only to find I really like playing bass. It seems to bridge the gap of my other two instruments, guitar and drums. Anyway, had borrowed a bass for a month or so, but knew I would get my own soon enough. Played a bunch of different basses over the last few weeks at different stores and kept coming back to this one. Some may say its a bad choice for a newbie, but why not play what speaks to you right off the bat?

Anyway, without further adieu, here is my new to me Ibanez SRFF805.

Amen! If only more people had this attitude. There is no such thing as a bad choice for a newbie except an extremely low-quality bass.

That's a great bass, I had the honor of playing a new one recently in transparent black. Knocked my socks off.

Keep that attitude, and you'll quickly become a true bass player, rather than a guitarist who also plays bass.

Thanks all. I was able to clean up the finish where it wore through to wood with a Minwax touch up pen in dark walnut, it was easy enough I might just keep it this color after all. Still totally digging this bass and can't wait to get a proper rig for it, although I can't complain about the tone I am getting from my 50 watt tube guitar head and 2x12 ported cab loaded with EVM12Ls.
