The great state of New York
Just picked up this awesome, near-mint condition, 8.5 lbs, swamp-ash bodied G&L L-1000 bass from another TB-er. One pleasant surprise - Having never played one, I thought its #12, "modern medium C" neck would be thinner than my liking. No so, it turns out to be a nice manly neck. Added to my SB-2, I've adequately scratched my recent G&L itch.

Congrats on the killer Wunkay. These are really cool basses and it's unfortunate that G&L hasn't put them back on the roster. I'm glad I got one of these "reissues" from Rocket Music while they were still available.

The L2000 has everything that the L1000 has. Same neck pickup location. I think that's probably why.

Don't get me wrong though, I like P-basses simply because they have the one pickup and simple control scheme. I can appreciate that.

I'd like to see them release the L5000 again.

I get that. But at the same time they've reissued the SB-1 and more recently the LB-100. When Rocket Music did the initial run in '14, the cutoff for getting an order in was about 1 month. They were still taking orders nearly a year later. I still believe there's potential there considering the oddball Wunkay will pop up on their FB page or at some shop.

To the OP, sorry for the rant/derail.

Nice bass.

I have the inverse of that one: Black gloss paint finish, ebony fingerboard (fretless). Black bridge but chrome knobs and tuners. Seeing your post made me get it out and play a bit. Sadly, my fretless intonation needs much more work...

Neat bass. How do you like it compared to a P bass? Aside from hotter pickups.

God that's a beauty!! I love that Transparent Blond with maple combo. Had it in a P-bass and let it get away from me (there were other factors, but it was the best looking bass I've ever owned).

I have an L2000 with the #12 neck. I love it also. Fits me like a glove!

Congratulations! Both are beauties, and they look good together!
