What is a K switch mod? Killer bass!

somebody else asked so rather than massacre the answer I stole this from an answer from @bassbenj :

The K mod is change in the series-parallel switch. It is a new three position switch where the center position only connects to a single coil in each pickup. This gives an approximation to a single coil jazz bass tone that is cleaner, more clear and pure. It does not change any of the previous series-parallel options. It's a lot of wires but you can do it yourself (I did). The New switch is about $20 And you have to remove the old switch and wire in the new one. There is a wiring diagram that appears periodically in these k-mod threads. (Not sure how to search it!)

My last L2K had this mod done at the factory. I liked the tone a lot(among others on the L2K)
