There are no known B string issues with an L2500.
I’ve been using Slinky 5’s on mine for 24 years without a problem.

Nice! Here's my L2k Tribute that I got a few weeks back:

I now have it wired for series/outer singles/parallel, and the treble pot is a push/pull to switch between series and OMG.

Struggled all weekend trying to get the setup right on this. I finally got it in the ballpark. Horrible setup from the place that sold it to me through Reverb. Spending a couple of days in extremely cold temps while in transit surely didn't help. Truss rod was cranked so tight it had back-bow. Intonation was off. Now have it playing nicely with a set of my fav Ernie Ball Super Slinkys installed. Considering flats. My first G&L many years ago was the first bass I ever owned that I though sounded good with rounds. Now I may be going the other way.
