NBD - GC Score

Walked into the local GC last week and came across a used Player P. It was strung up with LaBella flats, had a really great setup and the bass felt light because it was really well balanced. Put it through an Ampeg Rocket combo and it had that classic thump. It was hard to put down but it also wasn't available to take home until 5 days later. Priced $100+ less than other used Player Ps cause of a gash in the back, I kept it in the back of my mind. I wasn't really in the market for another bass but yesterday I decided you gotta have a PBass (and a Jazz) in the arsenal and made the purchase. Listening to D'Angelo w/ Pino solidified the idea lol. I've got a recent R&B project I'm playing in that this bass would sound great in to mix up with the upright. Stoked!

Why wasn't it available for 5 days?

GC in Las Vegas has a Police Hold policy on used items to make sure they aren’t stolen. There were 5 days left the day I saw it.

The gash is maybe an inch long and not too deep but enough to see primer and a hint of wood. Keeping it all white and leaving everything as-is. Thought about dyeing the fingerboard but it looks better in person so probably just oil it. The only thing I had to do was adjust the intonation on the E&A and remove some residual pickguard cellophane under the knobs and jack. I couldn’t stand seeing that tattered edge of cellophane under the knobs and a sliver running from the Jack to the edge. Lol

Please no Tort.
The white looks very cool!

I agree in keeping the white. I once had a white American Standard P and took the tort off and replaced it with white, loved that look. Also put LaBellas on it. Wish I had kept that bass.

Can’t go wrong with white. Looks good with everything. :D
Listen closely...

White plastic is for bathtub surrounds, not basses.

Do you hang your bass in the bathroom?

No?

I rest my case. :cigar:

‘Congrats! Good find. It’s also good to check out their used gear online. OCs Occasionally has. some good values pops up now and again.

Interesting point of view looking at your profile pic...
And you don't know for sure that I don't keep a bass in the bathroom. Multitasking is good practice!
