A few weeks ago I was ready to pull the trigger on an 89 Greco TB. I waited a bit longer and it got bought somewhere else. I have wanted a TBird style bass for a while, recently trying out the Epiphone versions at GC. Well my chance to own one finally happened and picked this one up this past Saturday. It SEEMS to have an Ebony board, tho I am not 100% sure on that. When I got it, the action was decent, but the neck had too much relief. Maybe the truss rod is broken, or the previous owner never really bothered to do a set-up? Thankfully it was the later as when I adjusted it it turned smoothly and now the neck is straight. Electronics were cutting out when turning the pot, opened the cavity and it was dusty and dirty so I did the usual clean and Deoxit g100 treatment. Works well now. Weight is decent but it DOES neck dive. What worked for me was using one of my wide straps that was backed with suede. I guess the friction helps a lot, who knows. Not much of an issue to me now. I MIGHT change the tuners to ultra light hip shots, maybe in a couple of months. As for the tone, I am VERY happy with it. No plans on changing pickups so far (replacements seem to be very expensive too. The nickel covers are nice!). My usual go to is just to slap flats on a bass, but I used some DR Lo Rider steels on this and they sounds very nice.
