NBD Hayman 40 40

I found this locally while out shaking the trees. I have always been fascinated by these since seeing bands like Brownsville Station on the Midnight Special and Don Kirchner's Rock Concert. Definitely the flavor of the month, the 40 40 was used by quite a few famous players and disapeared from favor quickly.
This bass obviously is missing the original pickup harness and has a added signal coil Precision pickup. It plays and sounds great, I got it for peanuts. Like a three legged dog that licks your hand I had to bring it home to the land of misfit toys

I havd a line on some original pickups, I'll post updates.

There is a complete pg/pickup harness available on Reverb at the moment for just about what I paid for the bass. I have a line on just a set of NOS pickups for what seems a reasonable price. Keeping my fingers crossed.

The single coil P looks like it is at or near where Leo had it on his single coil P, so I would guess it might do a good imitation of a single coil P bass as it is.
Putting back the original pick ups would open some options for sure.
Maybe have a toggle switch for each pickup?
Any combination from off to all three.

In for a penny in for a pound. I bought the complete pg/pickup assembly that was on Reverb, the seller was kind enough to drop the price a bit to make it palatable. It's coming from Germany hopefully it won't take to long to get here. Hayman was made by Shergold before Shergold marketed the basses under their own name.

I love it. As you can see I own 2 of 53 of the 50/50's with sequential serial numbers. Would love to get a 40/40 to go with them. T Rex also used.

Still waiting for the parts, seller says 8 weeks is not unusual given the times. Probably hung up in customs.

Is the darker area under the pickups painted or a plate or part of the route? I'd extend that forward a bit to include (and hide) the SCPB route.

It's a plate that holds the entire pickup assembly, weighs about 3/4 of a pound, can't really be moved. The single coil route is a easy fix

I plugged the "route" for the extra pickup today. Reasonably pleased with it, probably do some fine tuning.
