I would really like to compare this reissue with the new Hofner Verythin bass. So much hollow goodness to be tried!

Again, I'm very impressed with the aged looking color. The binding is very cream/yellowish...usually only found on the violin shellac versions of Hofner products.
Oh and if you all don't mind, I am updating a few more pics now I've got the Rotosound 88s on.

Really nice looking Hofner. if it plays half as good as it looks then it a winner.

Pauls hofner 61 was stolen days into the "Get back film" so he used there studio one. the bassman sticker is said to come of Johns Fender bassman amp box. there are some pictures of it at an angle like in "Let it be" and some with it straight across on a diffrent hofner. the repais to the sides of the neck were due to the strap pegs (two) in each side of the neck, after a number pulled out damaging the bass they changed to a strap that slipped under the fretboard and around the neck. all the pictures of the damaged to the underside were on Pauls older 61 Hofner the Abbey road had the damaged top part of the neck.
there is a picture of the old 61 Hofner with a list of songs like on Johns guitar but on the back of the bass, and he kept it like that as it was from the New York Shea Stadium. don't know if maybe Johns list may be from Shea too.
Nop. The '61 did got stolen while filming Let it Be, but since 1963 he's using the 62' Hofner 500/1. He used it through out Ed Sullivan Shows, Shea Stadium, studio recordings and the Rooftop Concert. (And live concerts nowadays).
The 'Bassman' sticker was from his bass amp, and he removed it later on.

McCartney played two left-handed 500/1 basses during most of the group's career – a 1961 model with pickups mounted close together towards the neck, and a 1963 model, with the second pickup mounted closer to the bridge. McCartney used the 1961 bass until the recording of With The Beatles in late 1963, when he obtained his second 500/1. McCartney used his 1963 bass almost exclusively during The Beatles' touring career, using his 1961 bass (which was repaired and refinished in 1964) as a backup. Although by 1966 McCartney had begun using a Rickenbacker bass in-studio, he did bring out his 1961 model for the "Revolution" promo film in 1968 and for the documentary Let It Be the following year. During the shooting, however, the 1961 bass was stolen, and McCartney used his newer Höfner for the remainder of the film, including the famous rooftop performance. McCartney has continued to use his 1963 Höfner extensively throughout his solo career and continues to use it today.
It certainly was a set list taped onto McCartney's Hofner. I knew the fellow who repaired this bass at Mandolin Bros. on Staten Island, NY.
The list was carefully protected, even at that time. Flip Von Scipio did the work of fixing up the bass to improve the intonation and playability. The general direction from McCartney was that nothing should look changed.

Why would he have a strap pin when he looped his strap under the fret board and tied it?
As a left-handed player, he would not have a strap button mounted on his upper side - if he did have one.
