NBD: Hofner Ignition Club LTD

Not to drag this on... but I really dislike the inconvenience of rehearsals. I get how it can be fun for some, but it's not for me. Most rehearsal spaces for me are 45 - 60 minutes away, and I have a VERY full schedule. A rehearsal means I lose a night I could be doing something else - even if that means just relaxing. Being able to work on tunes a half hour here and there when time allows is a gift to me. The others in my band feel the same, and all have enough experience to be able to work on their own, responsibly. We cover tunes as they're recorded, and we all know what we need to do.

At the same time, I don't knock rehearsals for people who have the time and desire. And I've had bands where there were rehearsals I used to look forward to. If I had an original band I'd be wanting to rehearse every week. If I had rehearsals in my basement, I might even be happy rehearsing covers once a week :). That's all. Apologies if my earlier response was a little dick-ish too... I kinda thought it was. The ol defensiveness kicked in a wee bit.

About rehearsals, I look forward to them with my main band but the other band's members are scattered all over the state so rehearsal is a no go. We are used to playing in jam settings and such so when we do get together, often at a gig, we somehow pull it off "just like we practiced."

If you can pull it off, it's good. I miss not rehearsing with my main band though. We're all backline guys with little ego and we just boogie.

I think we need a thread about rehearsal! :smug:

I like rehearsal, even with my cover band. It helps ease my mind that everybody's on the same page for shows. Of course, we do most of our work practicing at home individually, but rehearsal is a nice way of easing any fears any members might have.

I hear ya! I am currently in an acoustic duo, we don't rehearse, we discuss songs to do, learn them, play them at gigs, of course we discuss how to end the song (keep it simple) and who will sing what harmony. It is a bit wobbly at first, but we get it.

BTW, I purchased a Baby Blue Ignition, it will get here it today! I have owned this model before, and they are very good basses for the money. Fun to play, sound like what they should, a hollowbody bass, and look cool!

Well, UPS said my Hofner Ignition Club bass was delivered, just got home and nothing. Never had this happen. Hope someone didn't walk off with it.

UPDATE: Got it! It was mis-delivered up the block.

GREAT little bass, beautiful color (baby blue!) very happy to have an Ignition back in the arsenal. May need to get the twin violin bass!

I just found out these things existed......how long have they been around with cool colors? They are still on sale, but do they come with a case like their black/sunburst brothers?

They are exactly the same as those ones right? No different build quality or anything?

I see they are offered in silver, pink, baby blue and red. I might go with red....

I live in the upper Midwest of the United States though and have always been concerned with how these guys hold up with extreme seasonal changes....

The only thing keeping a GAS attack at bay for me right now is reminding myself we’re going to be moving to a smaller house in a year or so, so I’ve got to drastically reduce my current gear holdings - and…I’ve promised myself a Supro Huntington I :woot: as soon as I sell off at least three basses I currently own.

Gotta fight fire with fire. :thumbsup:

MF keeps flipping their prices around. They put a special on the red one, then about a week later made it the silver one. They offer them as Stupid Deals Of The Day from time to time. You can be patient and wait for that, or use the 20% off they're currently offering. You have to call though, and sometimes it's tougher than others. It's a good idea to at least make an attempt at the code ordering online (it won't work), but they give you a message - "code doesn't work, don't worry." I like to use that as my opener, "I was told not to worry." That leads me to believe they will honor the code over the phone.

I finally received the Maroon one that I ordered from MF weeks ago and I love it! Mine weighs in at exactly 5 lbs. and is a blast to play. I really like the colour - the red looks great and there's a subtle amount of metallic paint in the finish, not enough to make it really obvious but just enough to make the guitar sparkle. The controls are completely bananas though. I'll have to go back and read the thread started a few weeks ago about the controls to help me understand how to use them effectively.

Here's a pic of it beside my recently acquired JMJ Mustang bass (which is awesome by the way):
