NBD: Ibanez EHB1005MS Headless Multi-scale Bass

The offsets from 12TET are 4 cents or less, which is no larger than unavoidable pitch variations caused when playing a guitar.
4 cents tuning error only causes a moderate pleasant chorus effect.

However this does mean that a TT guitar will vary in pitch from other 12TET instruments slightly more than a normal guitar.
So unless you are going to play chords on a bass i do not see much point in TT, unless you are one of the few musicians who actually want the 'key colour' feature of a Well Tempered instrument (due to the unequal sizes of the 12 semitones in an octave, a particular scale will have a slightly different character in each possible key)

Thought i should back up my last post with information from the TT website.

I get the impression they are scared that the truth will put people off, and i can see why, so the basic up-front dumbed-down marketing is "Perfect pitch / perfect intonation / in tune, all over the fretboard" which is misleading and deceptive. This marketing takes advantage of the fact that many people incorrectly come to this conclusion from hearing the improved harmony of chords. Chords in 12TET inherently have poor harmony, so you cannot have perfect chord harmony and perfect 12TET at the same time.
Strandberg repeat this marketing on their site as they are working with TT now.

Then more hidden away on the TT website is the details:
How to tune

"How do I tune?
[...] the open strings are not tuned in equal tempered intervals.
The Thidell Formula One temperament is built around fret positions and tuning offsets."

"What happens when True Temperament guitars are used with other guitars, bass, piano etc?
It works just fine together with “ordinary” instruments. The offsets from Equal Temper are not so severe that they create any dissonance whatsoever."

"True Temperament offsets info
Cromatic offsets in cents from equal temperament as follows:
E -2, F 0, F” -4, G +4, G” -4, A 0, Bb -4, B -1, C +2, C”-4, D +2, Eb -4."

Thanks for sharing those.

Thank God I've never had any interest on true temperament fretted instrument, while OTOH I have always had my eyes open for fanned fret instruments. The EHB1005MS is my 2nd fanned fret bass.

I have the 1505ms since about a month ago. I had a Z3 and NG2 before, sold them off due to financial challenges. The 1505ms is a comeback for me.
My playing is mainly covers from 90s onwards thus this bass serves the workhorse purpose with the pallette of tone it can provide. The vari mid is one strong factor of my purchase. It works well indeed.
Well, it has MS, nordies, chambered, not heavy, not gloss neck, still not too thick a neck. I could not have asked for more. I love burl too.
Hang on..but i guess i have voided warranty but it is just due to my quench of more headroom. I bumped up from 9v to 18v hahaha. Like my other few basses but those were on aguilar.
i told myself..if i fried the pre amp..i will wait in tears for a few mths to get a new pre and i went with the risk. I have of course not yet played this on a big stage or where the acoustics call for more headroom need. but testing on my 350watt bass amp at home there is that happy feeling because indeed there is difference.
So yup i am a happy fella with this bass!!

So, where did you put in the additional 9 volt battery? Is it inside the electronic cavity or did you install another 9v battery box?

Do you have any pictures of what's going on inside the EHB electronic cavity?

Looks like you were able to set the action quite low! Is the fretwork decent on yours?

Dititip info mas, jika masih ada stok 1004! Aku di singapur tapi keluarga isteri di cirebon. Thanks mate! Hehe. Would wanna get ma hands on one hehehee
1004? Maksudnya EHB1000? Gak dimasukin kayaknya.

IIRC, the dealer told me Ibanez Indonesia had only brought in 3 EHBs: my EHB1005MS-SFM, EHB1005-BKF and EHB1505-DEF. Did you get yours from Swee Lee SG?

Had they also brought the 1505MS in, either the one like yours or especially the one with limited run PLF finish, it would have been a doom for me cause I would have to choose it over this 1005MS-SFM one, which means I would have to dig deeper into my savings. Only if they had also brought in the 1005MS-BKF, it would be easier as the 1005MS-BKF was my first choice amongst the available EHB models.

What are the measurements of the nordstrand used in the EHB1505SM?
It looks like there is yet no 'drop-in' replacement by Nordstrand for the Barts in the 1005MS

Seems like 113mm by 33mm
Those measurements almost like P4 shape size. The Bartolini on 1005MS are also P4 size.

Nordstrand makes pickups in P4 shape soapbars.

Nice! Can I ask what case you are using? I want to find a HSC or at least one of those rigid soft cases for mine.
