NBD: Ibanez EHB1005MS Headless Multi-scale Bass

First of all thanks for reading my encrypted post.
It seems that I can't type the words right today.

I just saw some pics on Ibanez website and the battery compartment is in the lower body beside the control cavity.

Bummer, this lightweight bass combined with a Ibanez QM52 (that I own) would make a killer doubleneck.

I'll search for pics on the net anyway.

Oops, sorry @yberwaffe, seems I was confused with the following chambering picture of the Ibanez SRH series available on the website. Ibanez has never depicted the chambering inside the EHB body.

I haven't adjusted the truss rod of my EHB with lots of turns, but from my experiences with other Ibanez bass recent models, the truss rods are dual-action truss rods.

A talkbass user got airport X-ray scans of some of his Basses. Here is the EHB. Very cool looking to see IMO.

I do believe the darker parts are the chambered sections. If you look closely it appears that the area around the battery box has a bit of chambering as well.

My favorite detail of the pic is the neck stiffening rods visible from the 19th fret to the 7th. I must say it is a very revealing photo.

Great picture. Thank you for posting it.

Can the slightly darker parts of the upper body be the chambers ?
If there is, then it might be chambers in the lower part too, although I doubt it.
Seems they are. Comparing that XRay pic and my posted pic of the SRH chambers from Ibanez website, could be the lower part of the EHB body, where the battery is located, also has chamber. But, it's probably a thinner chamber given that the EHB body isn't as thick as the SRH.

I have the Zens in both my 1005ms’s
Way better than the barts. The lobster guy on YouTube also shows a +6db mod by just moving one of the harnesses on the preamp to another docking plug next to the original.
that apparently improves clarity again.
Also, apparently you can 18v the preamp for noticeable headroom according to someone here on TB(that’s you and I will try it )

Also to note, I’m using the mono double guitar size case for these two basses and they fit perfectly.

I have the 1505ms since about a month ago. I had a Z3 and NG2 before, sold them off due to financial challenges. The 1505ms is a comeback for me.
My playing is mainly covers from 90s onwards thus this bass serves the workhorse purpose with the pallette of tone it can provide. The vari mid is one strong factor of my purchase. It works well indeed.
Well, it has MS, nordies, chambered, not heavy, not gloss neck, still not too thick a neck. I could not have asked for more. I love burl too.
Hang on..but i guess i have voided warranty but it is just due to my quench of more headroom. I bumped up from 9v to 18v hahaha. Like my other few basses but those were on aguilar.
i told myself..if i fried the pre amp..i will wait in tears for a few mths to get a new pre and i went with the risk. I have of course not yet played this on a big stage or where the acoustics call for more headroom need. but testing on my 350watt bass amp at home there is that happy feeling because indeed there is difference.
So yup i am a happy fella with this bass!!

Ok….. the +6db mod is great so far and to one of my two 1005ms’s, I also added the 18v mod. Slight tonal difference with 18v. Slightly clearer/more presence. I’ll be gigging tomorrow night and I’ll try in a live setting as I use no back line and will be going through my Midas M32C with DL32 out to my JBL SRX 835p tops and SRX818sp subs. And that’s how I roll I use IEM’s JH Audio Roxanne’s…. Love them

Woah! Was getting into reading this thread. Then it just stopped in 12/2023.
Anymore good, bad, mod info on the EHB1005s/MS, etc model ibanez bass?
Im looking a couple used-stock/used-modded EHBs online.
Im leaning to the Non-MS models, to prevent a learning curve. Seems quite a few feel its not a big deal. Wrist pain not an issue either?
Anyway, there other Ibanez EHB threads. But this one was moving along nicely while my rack of ribs are in the oven; Mmmm, dry rub w Texas jalapeño jelly spread.
Guess I'll eat n check back in.
Ciao...more like chow. ;>)
Peace yal, e.

I'll revive dead thread as per my last post in 2024.
I ended up buying a used like new 1005MS. Zen Blades, extra shielding added. Very nice bass.
But I I think I just stripped the tightening screw for my D string. Hex wrench slips as I tried to add tension. Loosening, the screw still turns, so not totally stripped.

Any suggestions on ordering this one part from Ibanez, StewMac, other? I'd be ok ordering a set of 5 if necessary.
Thnx for any helpful suggestions.
