NBD: Ibanez SR Mezzo 32" scale - review

Soooo....
I bought some D'addario Chromes Short Scale that state they fit 32" scale or shorter.
No can do on this bass... The silk wrapping extended 3/4 into the 1st fret area..
So does anyone have any suggestions for a flatwound brand that makes a flat set for specifically 32" scale?
If not, can I put standard 34" long scale flats on this?

For those of you who got one, can you report on weight? I have the somewhat unreasonable hope that they may be under 7 lbs.

I didn't look at all of them, but Sweetwater's Mezzos seem to vary from 6 lbs 13 oz to 7 lbs 6 oz.

I cant say for sure but maybe some Labella mustang flats? I know they are longer because the mustang is string through
D'addario makes medium scale Nylon tapes

Thomastik-Infield Jazz flats come in 32". Never tried them, but I thought about them for a potential Mezzo purchase.
Next step, think about what to do with the fourth knob after I remove the preamp.
Well I called Zzounds and spoke with a CSR and he talked to his supervisor and discovered that the D'addario set I bought we're for 30" scale, even though their description stated 32". So they reimbursed me + sending me a new set that will fit.
32" scale bass is known as medium scale bass, not short scale.
You or the shop you bought the string from most likely has misread D'Addario. D'Addario stated "the length of up to 32" = their short scale strings" and "the length of 32" to 34" = their medium scale strings" in a context that you have measured the "length" the way they described prior to those length statements. The same "length" measurement as @fermata was saying above.
If you had measured this so-called "length", or in here we would often read as "winding length", then you would have known the required string winding length of your SRMD bass was more than 32", thus you'd be buying the medium scale D'Addario Chromes.
I was thinking the same thing, if these medium scale basses sell - we might see some higher end models for 2020 with a different pickups/electronics, and some nicer body woods.
That's what I'm hoping for.
It's all CNC so there's no big investment in tooling to produce a different, shorter neck that I can see.
And 30/32" scales are getting a lot more attention these days.
Ibanez could OWN the market segment if they jumped on it now. It'll help the cause if we buy these basses.
Zzounds admitted, that the wording in "their" description stating that these would fit bass scales up to 32" was a misrepresentation on their part.

How did the show go? Think I want to "upgrade" from my VM Mustang and I don't think the MIM Mustang PJ is the way I want to go. I think I want to go PJ, and that Sea Foam Green Pearl looks killer. Not sure I want active only though.
So Zzounds made it all good! Sent me a set of D'ADDARIO Chromes medium guage. Fit like it ain't no thang and she sounds sweeter than pie. I'll try to see if I can upload a sound sample soon.
The Mezzo has the Soundgear Gio (GSR) body shape, which is just a flat-sided version of the Soundgear (SR) shape.
