NBD. Ibanez SR300EB

Congrats! :thumbsup:Very good basses for the money!

They are very versatile. You can get a kinda T-bird vibe in humbucker mode and a kinda J-bass vibe with the coil split.

It's VERY easy to completely ruin the tone with the active eq in these basses though. A little goes a long way! I usually found a TINY mid cut in humbucker mode and a TINY bass boost + high cut in split coil mode to work best for MY needs. Maybe also a tiny bit of mid boost in split coil mode, depending on taste.

Anything beyond "barely moved the tone knobs past the center detent" can be dangerous territory with these SRs. They offer FAR more boost/cut than anyone can possibly need and in the hands of an inexperienced player they can be a recipe for disaster (or at least a recipe for a very poor tone...).;)

It is said that the low number SR series basses are for beginner's? I would respectfully disagree. I have an SR fretless 5 and it is a very nice bass. Other than being shipped with rounds it came flawless. ( why rounds? ) Plays and sounds great with the flats I put on it. Congrats on your new bass!
I completely agree with you. I've always thought the lower SRs were way more than beginner instruments.

I noticed that when I was playing it. I still think it sounds great!
