Well I never foresaw myself owning a Jackson - I'd written those basses off long ago as being 34" scale instruments with ungainly headstocks. Then while reading TB, a Jackson owner happened to mention that his bass was a 35" scale. So I did some investigating and found that some of their fivers are indeed 35" scale with 3 + 2 headstocks and offer a lot of value.
I'm not crazy about the two colors offered for this neck-through SBX V model but for me black is the lesser of two evils. At least it's metallic black, so the sparkles add some visual interest.
The bass came perfectly set up and I was pleasantly surprised by the overall quality as well as the tone. The pots and knobs don't have that cheap feel. Sure, the tuners and strings could be better but after all, this instrument is built to a price point, and the manufacturer has to make a profit. A keeper for sure.
