So same old story, went to Guitar Center for strings and found this gem. Not even in the bass section. It was in the back on the way to the bathroom hanging up high. The sales associate was passing by and asked if I needed anything and I looked up on the wall and said "What is that?" Took it down and played it and it was light and the notes just jumped right off of it. Great feeling neck. Super fast. And despite the pickups it doesn't sound at all like any Stingray I have ever played or owned. I'd say it sounds like a modern EMG equipped bass. 3 band EQ with sweepable mids, bass and treble. Coil tap switches for both pickups. Balances perfectly and the build quality, fit and finish are superb. I have played Carvins in the past and really disliked them. This ain't no Carvin. And the soft case is super nice too. Like MONO quality. Apparently the previous owner just had this custom built 3 months ago and recently traded it in or more likely just sold it in. Looks like it was about $2200. I got it for less than half of that. It still has the factory strings on it. It doesn't appear to have been played at all.
