NBD - Lakland Skyline

This would be my advice and was what I heard from Carl Pedigo, their master luthier.

Congrats on the nice bass. Out of curiosity, how heavy is it? I loved my cherryburst MIK 55-01 and it was my main player for many years but it was really heavy! I sold it after I got my Carlo (basically a custom 4-94)
8 to 9 ish pounds. Not overbearingly heavy. It's about the same as my Carvin LB70's.

As for the preamp, I have a new Noll preamp that I'm not using that would fit. But honestly, I'm inclined to leave it stock. I mostly play punk, so I'm not really that picky when it comes to tone.
That's wise. I left mine stock until the very last year when I switched it to all-passive. Then I put it back stock and sold it.

Talkbass sets the bar for preamps/pickups/tone/etc pretty high, but the stock preamp and pups did everything I needed. Some have said that the preamp can be a bit harsh. That's reasonable criticism but if you're playing mostly punk, then you will probably find that it cuts through the mix quite well.

Honestly, I'm very happy with the inexpensive preamps I can get from Guitar Fuel. They do the job and they don't cost a fortune. I usually change them when they break. I've only had that problem with Carvin preamps from the 90's.

If you're happy with them, you'll probably find that the MK preamp is just as good or better.

I'm curious though, could you link to them?

I picked this up on a whim from FB today. It's an older MIK Lakland Skyline. I think it's a 44-01 with a quilted maple top. It was barely played. Bartolini pickups. I can't find pictures of any others like it. This was bought directly from the factory in Chicago. It came with a Behringer Ultrabass 1200 amp, a Boss DS-1, and cables for a very attractive price. Does anyone know anything about these?

4401-Deluxe. Great bass. My 44-01 is modded with Audere pre and Nordstrand pups. Here is a pic.
