NBD: Lefty MIJ Fender PB57!

Snagged this guy off of Reverb. Wanted another P bass so I could have one P for rounds and one for flats. This will be the flats bass. :D

I have the exact same bass, even left handed! One slight difference is that mine doesn’t have the threaded barrels on the bridge.

I tried a set of TI flats that I had on mine, didn’t like them on this bass, I think they’re too low tension for me, but they did sound nice. I mainly use D’Addario Pro Steels on it but one time I put some DR Hi-Beams on it and really liked them, but they’re too expensive for me to use on a regular basis as they’re over 50% more expensive than the Pro steels, I may treat myself to another set some time!

I swapped out my pickups for a set of EMG Geezer’s (which also replaces the complete electrics, pots and Jack socket), they made a huge difference and it sounds superb. Completely noiseless too, well worth considering.

They’re really nice basses, the pickguard is a bit flimsy though and noticeable when you plug a lead into the socket, I think they’re only 2mm thick and single ply. I would replace it with a gold anodised one but they’re just not out there left handed and you can’t just flip them.
