Thanks for the suggestion. I was also interested in one of those but it's outside my budget.

I've been on a quest for very light a shortscale for several years since the stroke and, this time, what I did was use the short scale neck (25.5" scale) from a Glarry bass that was on sale of $60, designed and built a hollow body using a paulownia frame, top and back plates from lightweight laminated floor underlayment from Home Depot, a DIY stick bridge, the bridge plate of the Glarry for a string anchor, a single inexpensive humbucking pickup from Amazon wired straight to an Electrosocket from an old project, and a set of Gotoh GB350 Res-O-Lite tuners form the same old project. That bass weighs 3lbs, 7 oz. using my fishing scale. It's still a work in progress but it sounds very good with nylon tapes and is very easy for me to play.

If the Fallout weighed less I probably would have bought one of the imports.

I know this is almost a derailment… but the lightest I’ve played were Hofners. Aside from that I think the Ibanez AGB200 can sometimes come in light. Oh! And Kala has a mini solid body that sounds good on video. To keep from derailing, drop in to the TB short scale club and see what else people say.

granted! My wife’s six screw L-2000 is hugely stable, needing all of 2 adjustments in 24 years. However, my three-screw w/neck tilt has performed very well across lots if challenging use, including some pretty long tours.

Indeed I've been getting 'informed' warnings that the neck of my '82 L-1000 was going to 'move around' since ... '82? Truth to tell, it never went anywhere without the rest of the instrument and it remains perhaps the best bass I own.

Does anyone know why LF thought the locking bridges were a thing?

One of the supposed reasons for people using replacement bridges when modding Fenders was that the saddles could slide around on the screws, causing intonation or string spacing to go out. Locking saddles can’t move. At least that’s what I recall from the marketing and reviews of the original G&Ls 45 years ago.

Love that color, something about the shades G&L chooses for their green, blue and grey basses make them scream classy without being flashy. Their basses are LOUD enough!

I think that Matcha Green looks great. Good choice!

I like the Matcha way more than Belair Green, which can look kinda polarizing at times.

Congrats, great bass! I have several G&L's but not an L-1000, I want one. I personally think the L-1000 is a great looking bass, hope it serves you well for a long time!
