I had a very generous client at work give me a large gift card for a Christmas gift and I found this bass for a steal. It was marked as a blemish model but I don't see so much as a finger print on it. It still had the plastic wrap on the tuners!

First impressions are very high. It plays great. Sounds great. I'm well pleased! I've seen these get a lot of praise here, so I was pretty confident that I'd like it. Fit and finish feels very similar to my Sire P7 and Sadowsky MetroExpress.

Very nice bass, congratulations!
I really love the sound, playability, versatility of the (top notch) preamp & tone is nice, also very decent B string.
But I disliked the plastic all black knobs, because the position markers are very hard to read.
Replaced them with nice feeling metal ones and and I'm very happy with it:

Wow... just started browsing threads on this bass cuz I just got one after succumbing to the impulse after playing the beast at the local GC... and guess what? The first thing I did was put these very same knobs on mine!

I am planning to have a pickguard made for it, based on the one they have on the Markbass store. I will soon be sending a template off to Pickguardian to make it for me, after which he will have a template... anyone can then reach out to him if you want one (5 string only obviously). I will post results here when I get the real one, but here is my mock up:

If these basses play as nice as they look, which apparently they do, then they sound like a great deal. And they look cool too.

The Cream (supposedly a GC exclusive) 5 string is on sale at GC right now for $649. It has a great feeling neck, the setup was super nice and it sounded great in the store, I couldn't resist! I was actually considering an inexpensive backup and this just fit the bill.

I got one from Guitar Center brand new during a sale. I think it was $675 OTD. Astounding deal at that prince, but I think these are worth the full asking price. It scratches the jazz bass itch for sure, and plays better than any Fender I ever picked up in Guitar Center, though that may be mostly Guitar Center's fault. Still, I can't fathom paying Fender American prices when these exist.

Congrats. My own experience put me off. Tried one out in a GC in Virginia Beach, VA. Bass was heavy. Neck was chunky and just way too many knobs for me.
Yeah... I had a similar experience first time around, when they first came out. I think they listened and made some changes on these latest models. This one is light and the neck feels good. I do wish they'd rolled the edges of the fretboard a bit though.
