That detail is the most important thing for me buying another fretless electric bass. Long on my most desired bass list is the unlined fretless Stingray 5.On my fretless Stingray the dots are right where the frets would be.
Yes. I learned that 30+ years ago when I demoed in the store, the first bass I ever played- a MIJ Fender (Unlined) Fretless Jazz Bass. I still play that bass. My point is that not all fretless electric basses or acoustic bass guitars adhere to this detail... but they all should. And that's why I'm always curious to see where the dots are on other fretless basses, and when there are no fretlines, confirm the dots are in the right place from the user's input. The dots are supposed to be where the frets would be, starting with the first fret or third fret. When you play, press on the dot.![]()
Those make a nice pairBeautiful bass! That necks looks amazing.
I have 2 MetroExpress 5s that I absolutely love. The 1st gen black one has La Bellas and the 2nd gen sunburst has rounds, i don't recall exactly which ones. I decided to swap their pick guards shortly after getting them. I would love to add a fretless. Yours looks fantasticView attachment 7097793
I forgot to mention that the previous owner replaced the 2nd gen's pickups with Bartolinis. They sound phenomenal through my Genz Benz rig. The MetroExpress is such a great value imoThose make a nice pair![]()

I think that while your neck is roasted maple, the fretboard is pau ferro. That's what Sweetwater and the Warwick store say about the fretless Metro Express anyway. It's roasted maple board
That would make for a nice trio !! Buying a Fretless to match your fretted is a smart move. That's what I did . It helps so much with muscle memory .Beautiful bass! That necks looks amazing.
