NBD: MIA Fender Precision, Pure Rosewood Neck, Bordeaux Metallic (Mod Shop Experience)

Very nice. I am so jealous. That is very close to the one I stupidly designed knowing full well they won’t sell to Canada.

It’s a shame Fender doesn’t have the capability to offer Mod Shop outside the US. Even if just in North America.

So I've heard that there are people/services who will order one on your behalf then ship it across the border. The additional costs likely isn't worth it, but it could be an option if you're really jonesing for one.

Only one question.
What does Fender have against a matching headstock option?

My first assumption would be labor costs, haha. But yeah, on the regular necks I feel like they could ask a decent upcharge and a lot of people would do it!

Here's a picture i took at guitar center in 2018

Oh interesting - the etching on mine isn't quite that deep! The neck I got is so beautifully dark as well. You can only see "Fender" if you're looking for it.

Gorgeous bass! I had a similar experience with mod shod (jazz bass in Sherwood green with maple fretboard and white pearloid block inlays). You make a great point about the bass requiring less of a wait time than stock Fenders right now.

If they ever offer a neck with a rosewood neck and white block inlays (no preference on J or P), my wallet will be in danger

Some people are on waiting lists for months for an Am Pro II right now. I was just over the advertised 30 days, and I got a bass in my own color choice with a kickass pickup. Like I said, it isn't cheap, but it's not an objectively stupid choice right now IMO.

That’s beautiful, Shark! You know what I think about Mod Shop. Isn’t that the best feeling neck? It feels warm. I love mime. Congrats.

I really can't describe how the neck wood feels, but it's so wonderfully different. The profile is a P profile, you know what you're getting, but I really didn't expect the rosewood to have such a nice texture and hand feel.

I LOVE that color. I almost bought a strat in the same finish and still regret that I didn't!

Right? I’ll try to take it outside today for a shot in full natural light - it’s not too purple and not too red. Bordeaux is a great color description. The metallic isn’t too over the top either. Even in my pictures here the sparkle is only really visible on the neck plate shot.

Beautiful bass!!! Congrats!!!!

I must admit, you set off my pet peeve alarm when I read “rosewood neck”. It’s silly but it always gets me when people say rosewood neck or maple neck when they really mean fingerboard or fret board. But darn it, yours really is a rosewood neck. That’s awesome! I bet it feels great too! I’m glad you enjoy it!

Bordeaux metallic was an early 2000s Mexican color funny enough.

Sometimes I go into a nice new fresh built open house and I see what is an eclectic mix of design choices and appointments that simply do not go well together. The home builder simply went through each design choice one by one and chose their favorite of a selection of available options and never stopped to consider the entire project as one entity.

French shutters, Greek columns, Californian pavers, Asian lanterns. Etc etc. eve thing nice. But not a unifying theme underlying the design. Strange paint selections and usually a bright color door. Very common.

Mod shop is a risky prospect. Some things aren’t meant to be. Even if it’s your favorite of the choices offered everytime.

Had no idea it was used in the 2006 MIM line. That’s a cool bit of history - thanks!

If this is your way of saying you hate my choices, I respect the effort that you put into articulating your opinion.

I love the bass though. I couldn’t just go with all black on black, or daphne blue and mint green. Really glad I didn’t go with silverburst.

It’s actually cool if others don’t dig it - I won’t see another one line it too often! Anyone who knows me IRL will say it fits my vibe perfectly.

That’s why I tried to be clear with the “Pure” qualifier because that’s how Fender words it, but yeah! It feels stellar.

midnight wine was available in standard series, not bordeaux metallic. they look similar but the flake size looks different. they do have the same color code though: 75.
this is midnight wine:

Nice bass! I've seen tons of posts/articles/videos debating the sonic significance of various woods, or lack thereof. I have to say I find the all-rosewood necks to be inherently warm. I have both the P and J limited edition models from several years ago, and each is very warm-sounding, even with the V-Mod I pickups. That's a good thing, in my book! Enjoy that lovely bass!
