NBD!!!!!! MLP Queen 5 single cut goodness! And mini review.

Walnut body with mahogny layer and awsome flame maple top.
5 piece maple/flame maple neck with ebony fingerboard.
Nordstrand 3 band EQ.
Hussel duel coil pick-ups with ebony covers (each pick-up has series/parallel/single switch).

But hell, here's some pix!:

Those who know me know that I've owned some of the best basses made- from Smith to Fodera to Sadowsky to F-Bass to A-C etc....and usually more than just one.
This is on the same level as any other boutique bass.
The construction is top shelf all the way. As good as Smith/Fodera etc...

It has quite the assortment of tones as well. Can go from that active real smooth tone to a single coil growl to a full out dual humbucker grind.

Neck at the nut is a bit narrower than say a Sadowsky/Fender 5, but opens up to 19mm at the bridge.

Balance is perfect with zero neck dive and I;d say weight is maybe 9.5 pounds. Maybe- if that much.

B string is as one would expect when you get to this level, it's nice and tight and blends very well with the other 4 strings. Just like an extension of the rest.

I've only had it a few days now and I'm VERY impressed. I actually have this weekend off from gigs, so it's gonna have to wait for a gig report.

Mike, where the heck did you find that thing? I hadn't heard of the company so I looked them up. The basses sound great but I don't personally like them asthetically. There isn't an elegance to them that I find with some other builders (ex: Ken Lawrence). Again, the youtube videos I found were really well done and the basses sounded great.

I was actually looking at one used here on TB a while back.
I contacted the company (PMS Audio) and struct up a conversation/relationship with them and I got their 40th Anniversary model. The only one they built like this.

And hey, looks don't fit everyone. I think a Thunderbird is butt arse ugly, others love them.
I personally like the look.

So, a few gigs in on it and I'm still impressed.
One thing I noticed is I was expecting a bit of a warmer tone, but wow does that ebony really speak.

Punchy and tight, but with a nice sizzle on top.

Fun bass so far.....Plays like a butter.
