NBD! Modern AND Vintage P Bass

Put together my second real build using some parts sourced from Stratosphere and what I had in the parts bin already and I think it came out really nice!

American Pro II body and neck (separates) with associated hardware, Pure Vintage ‘63 PG and pups, aftermarket pickup covers, and a Performance Music wiring harness. Threw on some barely used TI Flats, a quick adjustment at the bridge and away we go!

Ergonomic appointments and hardware from this century, but vibe and sound from the last one.

Built it to tide me over while another gets refinished but I may be holding on to this one for the long run… always wanted some sunburst, with tort and cream…

I have a build, same P body in black from Stratosphere.... being built now, with a roasted maple neck and hipshot ultralights. My luthier said approx 2 weeks. NBD soon!

Nicely done and congrats. There was another thread today about the cost of Fender custom bass. If you feel, comfortable sharing this, including your nominal labor rate, what the cost to put this together?

Very nice ! The kind of bass that makes me want to play one more song again and again and again………..
And the Fender pure vintage 63 is my favorite pickup. Gives you the versatility AND the vintage vibe as well.

And if I may ask : how would you describe the sound of the TI flats on this bass ?
Is rather thumpy or is it more old school/Motown sounding ?
I have the same strings on one of my jazz basses and the sound is sweet and mellow on finger style but very funky and alive on popping and slapping, surprisingly.

Love the look but I would hold the cream and just go black . PV '63s are are also my favorite along with SD SP-1s on my Jag SS.

Generally, the parts to assemble ran between $13-1500.

And if I may ask : how would you describe the sound of the TI flats on this bass ?
Is rather thumpy or is it more old school/Motown sounding ?

Ehh, maybe re-ask your question. Thumpy and motown are kind of synonymous in my thinking. The TI's can have a touch of presence up top with tone full on, but they are still flats, so it's more low and low mids that really hit you.
