Double Bass NBD! My first DB

I had been planning on taking DB lessons in school next semester, and have been Playing electric for a few years now. I was planning on renting a cheap student model, but today my parents surprised me Bellafina Musicale 3/4ths Bass. I was so in shock and just didn't even register that it was mine until a few hours later. Any tips for someone starting out on the Upright journey?

Thanks,

-Andrew

Welcome to the dark side Andrew.

It's great you'll be getting regular lessons. There are some great vids online... but beware - there are also some really bad ones.
Chris Fitzgerald (Chris Fitzgerald) has some great ones. I've also got a lot from Geoff Chalmers.

Learning how to stand and balance the bass is a great start...

Thanks for the videos, I actually wouldn't of thought to check; I don't want to go into these lessons totally unprepared.

Nice bass, man. Great present to put under, or rather beside the tree. Any idea how much these cost? I'm looking at DB's right now. Planning on buying one after paying off my Sterling Ray 34 if I don't start a Ric fund. I'm not huge, so would you recommend this?
I think it was somewhere around a grand. I'm about 6 foot 2, and that picture is with the stand all the way down, so judge by that.
