NBD: Next Thursday Can't Come Fast Enough

Ok...so after 2 months of waiting (almost), I went into my local L&M for an update. While waiting for the sales clerk, I picked up an American Deluxe Jazz V (used) that's been sitting in the store for around 3 years. Well, I couldn't put it down. After talking it over with the clerk, I cancelled my Dirnt order & walked out with the Dlx for a ridiculous price.

Sounds like you made some lemonade with those lemons, with enough left over to make some lemon sherbet to boot! Glad to hear you turned a crappy sitch into a happier one. I, for one, am looking forward to seeing it.

Wow...okay..I wanted to hear the MD precision bass...guess not now...lol

Fellow Vancouverite...? That was where I was thinking. They have too many expensive basses taking up that precious space.
Congratulations! That is one sweet looking bass. I've had several Roadworns and they were all outstanding instruments.So after dabbling with virtually every brand I can get my hands on, and multiple pick-up/pre combinations, I've come to the conclusion that I really only want 2 basses in my arsenal. A 4 string P-bass, and a 5 string Spector.
With that in mind, I sold my 3 other basses and have placed an order for this beauty.
Yes, I know it's a Road Worn...so scoff all you want...but I don't give a flying monkey deuce.
I wanted a bass that's light weight, nitro finish, maple neck, split P, and 50's styling. This bass fits that bill.
Now all I have to do is wait for it to arrive. lol This is going to be a looooooong week.
What a great choice - i was curious about which P you would choose, if it is to be only one. I had a 2008 Dirnt model, and I think that the '59 style split coil must be among the best of them. I am currently keeping 2 'conventional' Precision basses, and 2 modified Telecaster style basses, but I guess if they had to be distilled and homogenized into one bass that Road Worn would be it?
I don't get the appeal of road-worn, cause I'm a finicky bastid, but I suppose you never have to agonize over dinging it. If you love it, you'll play it more, reason enough. Congratulations on your NBD.

It's a Sunburst 5-er that's been sitting in the shop since they moved locations 3 years ago. It's been my go-to bass for amp & pedal testing for years but I never thought I could afford it...then they went & dropped the price to just over $1300, so less than the cost of a new Am Std. The thing's virtually brand new! Not a ding or scratch anywhere! Everybody who's seen it has been too afraid to pick it up, I guess. lol NBD post to follow tonight with some pics. Too busy yesterday to post.
Not scoff-worthy at all. It's your money, I always quote that song "My Prerogative" by Bobby Brown when people give me grief about purchases.

It's the one that comes standard with the bound-&-blocked rosewood fretboard, right? If so, I'll bet the black pearloid would look utterly smokin' on it!

Absolutely! My RW has all kinds of wear on it that wasn't part of the original fake wear. I don't know what you call it when you play a reliced bass to the point that the relicing is now reliced, but that's what happens.
To the OP, I feel your pain! That's a tough one to wait for. If it is anywhere as good as it looks, it's a great one. I don't usually like white paint on anything, but for that one, I could make an exception. [edit] Except you went for a burst bass, and a different one at that! Ahah! Busted for not reading all the way through. Congratulations on your other new bass!

The inlays are listed as pearloid, but they're a tinge darker than any pearloid blocks I've seen recently. I wish it had a maple board, honestly, but I'm not going to complain.
