Just arrived, really like it so far.

I JUST GOT A SMOOTHIE TODAY TOO! I love it. I actually got it yesterday from SamAsh NYC.... and it arrived with a big ding on the neck that it got during "setup" (was very upset). Amazingly, a local guy had one of the smoothie burst ones for sale for a great price ($1450) and in flawless condition. Just snagged it and couldn't be happier :)

CONGRATS!

I look forward to your video on the Old Smoothie Lobster!

the idea is since the strings run between the pole pieces instead of directly over them, it has a mellower sound than a StingRay
The magnets create a field all around the pickup, and where those magnets are in relation to the strings can influence the sound of the bass. By putting the magnets between the strings instead of directly underneath them, the attack of the note is softened - or “smooth(i)ed”.
Makes sense. Thanks!
