Actually all of my basses were beaters anyway and I have no sensible reason to want a passive Chinese Stingray copy.

So obviously I bought one. With the tone rolled off and played over the pickup it sounds quite Stingrayish and I do love thet sound.

I don’t think it’ll usurp the P, but I already like it better than my (very cheap Chinese) J.

In principle I could stop accumulating beaters and get something nice, but actually I kind of like beaters. (And all of them play and sound just fine so it’s not a problem as really needs fixing.)

I was watching a great band just outside of Memphis, TN in Olive Branch, Ms. The bass player was playing the 5 string version of this bass. It sounded wonderful for the Classic Rock tunes they played. They let me sit in for 2 songs on it and it felt fantastic. It may have been Korean, I don't know how long they have been MIC.

This one is proudly Chinese. With rounds it sounds somewhere between a precision with rounds and the tone rolled off and a REALLY BIG REALLY ANGRY GOOSE. I love that sound and I intend to use it for everything I record when I am not really concerned what anyone else thinks.

(I may work up to playing it in bands as I go along, but Stingrays are also not much of a fashion statement with the Big Black Egg/Toilet Seat scratchplate.)
