NBD: Peavey Foundation

This appears to be an 89' in outstanding condition. It has a few indentations but very little in the way of scratches or chips or anything else. The neck looks like it's never been played. It's in phenomenal shape. The sound is just like people describe it; A J bass on steroids. I love the mid burp it has and the neck is very easy to play. It seems to be a bit thicker sounding than your standard J bass. Honestly for the quality, this bass beats pretty much every Fender I've touched. I'm very happy with my purchase.


Also, it seems like I haven't seen any blue ones like this and definitely haven't seen too many maple boards. Is this unusual?

Wow! That is a clean one for sure! Blue is not that common, but maple fingerboards are very common. In fact, maple is more common than rosewood for Foundations, and older bolt-on Peaveys in general, IMO.

Ok so maple is common. I'm glad, I really love maple boards! The blue is really quite stunning in person and all the hardware is super clean. I think it spent most of it's time in a case.

I got an '84 in the same color with matching head but with rosewood fret board and pictures dont do this color justice.

Blue isn't a rare color, but is is one of the less common. Here's my Dyna Bass from the same year:

Yeah I knew I wanted a Foundation and have been looking for the past couple months for the right one to come along. I jumped on it when I saw it.

That's about what it would have cost new after taxes back in the day, but the bass is extremely clean, and Lord knows, you could not buy a new bass of that quality at anywhere near that price. That goes double for MIA basses!

Definitely! I'm sitting here at work and can't wait to go home and jam out for a couple hours. I think once I put a fresh set of Circle K's on it and set it up, it's going to get a lot of attention.
