All original, no case. I am going to check it out this weekend. He has shielded the cavity but other than that nothing.

That might be off putting to some -it does look a bit oak'ish in pics- but if it's a clean job, it wouldn't turn me off. It looks nice and compared to other natural finished Peavey's the grain is actually better matched than most.
I've never seen one of these before, and there's also one local to me on Facebook marketplace!

Nice find! I had a T40 in highschool and have been thinking about getting one again. I always assumed the body made the bass heavy because it looks heavy. I recently saw a video where a guy stripped a T40 and a Jazz. The T40 had a lighter body and lighter neck with tuners. All the weight was in the bridge and pickups. He said the bridge and loaded pick guard weighed 3 pounds! So, as you've discovered, no need to fear the weight of Peavey basses that don't have the T40 electronics.
