NBD: Peavey T-45

Found this well-played T-45 on Craigslist this weekend and couldn't help myself. I've been GASing for an old USA Peavey for a while now, but was quite sure I would have to go with a T-20 or T-40. I've only played it through the seller's little Roland Cube Amp that he had when we met up, but it sounded awesome. More pics and a thorough review to come later this week!

As the owner of T20s, T40s AND a T45, let me just say "Congratulations"!

You are now the proud owner of Chris Todd's (and Hartley Peavey's) equivalent of a premium "Precision" bass. Their best pickup put right there in the sweet spot. Some find the "unique" 10-7 tone slider (from single coil to humbucker) to be maddening, but I think it just adds to its charm. T20s sound nice, but the T45 has its own singular sound. I enjoy having them all around, because they all offer a different tonal palette.

Nice family photo! And, yeah, my first though when I plugged it in was that it sounded like a really beefy P bass. The neck is definitely going to take some getting used to. Just curious-how much does yours weigh?

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. According to my Hanson 2000 Utility Scale (Not Legal For Trade), my T45 weighs 11.2 pounds. That's just a little lighter than my T40, which weighs 11.5 pounds. I guess the "Northern Ash" used on the bodies of the T40 and T45 was heavier than the ash used on the less expensive T20s. My T20, by comparison only weighs 9.5 pounds!

Thats one beautiful T45! I'm a sucker for USA Peavey basses. I have a T40 and two Patriots at the moment, a T45 has been on my list for some time. Nice score, enjoy!
