NBD: peavey t40

just scored this bass last week at a FB buy/sell forum for $250. i immediatley jumped on it after looking at the pics. $250 was worth the gamble. all in all with shipping i paid $300. and i knew what i was gonna do with it.

i'm gonna put an EGC bass neck on it. it arrived yesterday and i thought the weight was gonna be crazy but it was fine. i guess im used to my 51 pbass slab that the t40's weight didnt bother me. i was messing around with it and yup, i dunno why it took me this long to get one. the tones you can get on this thing is just amazing. so many options.

cant wait for the neck to arrive and try this out. it's upload pics once i have it completed.
anyone else has a t40 with an aluminum neck?

yeah they do but it's just so rad. i was amazed when i heard one a few weeks ago. it sounded massive

yeah for me that would be out of the question. i cant afford a bass like that. i could only afford the neck. hahahaha

What kind of heel mods are necessary to fit an ECG neck?

I guess if you need a counterbalance for a metal neck the T40 is a good option.

Did they design the neck for the T-40 or is it a happy coincidence that it fits, or are they custom jobs made-to-order.
I'm curious as I've never heard of any company deliberately making parts for the T-40 aside from pickguards.

It was deliberate, the T on the headstock is way cool for the use as well. Believe me I want one and even my wife thinks they're cool, but I don't have that kind of jack.

i paid $835 shipped.

Still, custom metal machining isn't cheap and to be honest it seems like a fair price.

yeah. i just closed my eyes and paid hahahha. but im selling a few basses that i dont use to offset what i spent.

That is wise.
For the past year or so I've been downsizing my electric bass stable and up-grading it's quality. Though I have half as many instruments now I've been enjoying the ones I have much more.

I've been doing the same with the quality, only one cheapie and it kills most expensive ones. My problem is middle pickup basses, had too many similar ones. I GAS'd myself out of that lol
