NBD- Peavey TL6

So wasn’t planning on it but wandered on in to Sam Ash, and saw this beauty hanging on the wall. I’ll confess part nostalgia but mostly because this bass is an AMAZING player. The build is so solid, previous owner took good care, just a few small dings and a changed tuner, everything else is straight. I went home without but came back for it the next day. Very happy to have it, really enjoying it. Anyway…

My first six-string bass was a TL-Six. It met an unfortunate end, which, ultimately, led to my owning a Basslab.

That said, I loved the TL-Six, and would seriously consider buying another. That one looks great, and you are going to be very happy with it.

Thanks, I haven’t been in a music store in quite awhile. Just good timing. The neck taper makes it comfy to get around on. Seems like these old school basses getting harder to come by.

Gotta say, it doesn’t feel too big. I get the JP Yamaha vibes from it, but really not too big.

These USA made neck thru Peavey’s are as nice as any $2-4k instrument on the market today.

I picked up a TL-5 (ver 2) during the pandemic from a guy for $350 and it’s one of the nicest basses I own. You can’t get a new bass today with these materials and build quality for less than $3k.

These things are super cool! I was VERY tempted to get a TL-5 during my 5 string hunt. Can you tell us more about it?

This is the 2nd version I believe, with the 2 stacked mid controls. Reverse P pups! Nice and warm while still maintaining punch. 34 inch scale with an old school kahler bridge.

I believe I’ve played that bass! Sam Ash Carle Place, Long Island has had one just like it and it’s been on the floor for months!

It played really nice, and sounded pretty good too.

The Tim Landers series is one of the best Peavey did.
I bought a TL5 on the cheap at a pawn shop, played it for a couple of rehearsals and flipped it.
It sounded great and was built solid. It was my first 5 string and after owning a Fender 5 string Jazz for a few years later on, I decided that I really didn’t want or need a 5 string.

Well done on that one. I love the double P setup.

Out of curiosity, what's the bridge spacing on these as the neck does look wide? I got the nut width from the manual.

Right now its set for 19mm but can go tighter, That Kahler bridge I think can go to 17mm? Anyway, there's room to move the saddles tighter

Thanks. In the rare chance one shows up, 19mm is too wide for me. I like the Kahler bridges, but narrowing it doesn't slim the neck.

Sorry for the aside, but lovely bass otherwise.
