Well, there's some irony in this thread:
1) I've never played punk, never really even listened to punk, until I starting hanging out and jamming with this guy. I enjoy what we do, but still can't "feel" the Sex Pistols/Ramones/Misfits/etc.
2) The humor in the stickers is that I put what
I thought was cool on the bass - politically, sports, music, whatever. I truly don't care if they're legitimately "punk", or what other musicians in the genre do - which is the essence of punk, no? If push comes to shove, the stickers won't make a bit of difference when I smack someone in the face with this sucker.
3) We're not gonna go out "on the road", so it's not gonna get any wear and tear from that - but I was looking for something with that "lived-in" vibe, and got it.
3) I'm keeping the volume AND tone pots - despite not caring about the finer points, I will probably use this bass for other things - can't see the stickers and such in a recording - and I may want a tone pot.
I'll be adding a custom mudflap girl sticker to it, I think - good idea there. Pictures soon...
