NBD - Project Punk Precision

Sticker with care if you sticker for "punk" effect. No offense, but if you're trying to pass as a punk the real deal will spot it a mile away. As a younger man I'd have never given you the chance to show me how you play, I'd have made up my mind based on the sticker job. I'm not much better now, but I'd advise you to go in with a white bass, play the crap out of it, never use a stand, and let it develop. If on the road you are humbled by another band, stick their sticker on the thing and rock that.

Well, there's some irony in this thread:

1) I've never played punk, never really even listened to punk, until I starting hanging out and jamming with this guy. I enjoy what we do, but still can't "feel" the Sex Pistols/Ramones/Misfits/etc.

2) The humor in the stickers is that I put what I thought was cool on the bass - politically, sports, music, whatever. I truly don't care if they're legitimately "punk", or what other musicians in the genre do - which is the essence of punk, no? If push comes to shove, the stickers won't make a bit of difference when I smack someone in the face with this sucker. ;)

3) We're not gonna go out "on the road", so it's not gonna get any wear and tear from that - but I was looking for something with that "lived-in" vibe, and got it.

3) I'm keeping the volume AND tone pots - despite not caring about the finer points, I will probably use this bass for other things - can't see the stickers and such in a recording - and I may want a tone pot.

I'll be adding a custom mudflap girl sticker to it, I think - good idea there. Pictures soon... :hyper:

No, he's fine. I learned all I need to know about punk on CHIPS and Quincy MD. Stickers, ****, and clip on safety pins through the cheek.

Yep - all I need is someone with a camera, correct backlighting, and some serious pent-up frustration.

And yes, really with the Opeth and Mastodon and Mayer stickers. I like em. I figured I'd stick with bands I like.

And I went a lil crazy, but with my sense of humour it's only to be expected. I think I'm done now...

Yes.

It's over the top.

Yes, it would never be played by a "real" punk rocker.

Yes, I have no tomatoes.

And no, I don't care.
