NBD: Real Deal 1959 Precision!

I will never forget the smoothest playing bass I have ever touched was a ‘59 Precision. I could have had it for $1,090 back in 1989.

Pretty much me exactly, but with a ‘66. $2k. 1990.

I worked making sandwiches back then. I should have put it on layaway and sold my blood plasma (a very low way to make quick $ back then, favored by extreme riffraff)

I also still remember the incredible solidity of feel and tone. AND it was light…. And I don’t even like P basses…

One is a CAR 1968 P bass the other a 1970 J bass burst with maple neck. I’m too lazy to post pictures, maybe later.

Beautiful, congratulations. I find that in my extensive (and expensive) research the 59-61 slab P’s have the thinnest front to back necks.

This one def bears that out - it is definitely thinner front to back than my 65 (and slightly narrower at the nut)
