NBD: Retired my Jazz. Going all Precision now

Congrats on seeing the light. P-Bass is the way to go.

Only thing is, it sounds like you needed (or still want to) to change a lot of things about your particular P-Bass, and it seems still not really right. I'd make sure it's how you want it, not just liveable. I had to build a Warmoth to finally get EXACTLY what I wanted. And it's perfect. I just built its fretless twin. Good luck in your endeavors. You will probably have more satisfaction in the mix now :-D

Hey sorry I'm late to the thread (I'm the seller). I didn't have any issues in the little less than a year I had it (I got it used off kijiji) and only sold as I'm a jazz guy. If it's not just maxed out and in need of a washer, as @MovingPitchers and I discussed we can look into the coverage if shipping had anything to do with it; also the different climate could have something to do with it. To the peanut gallery: I've been available and responsive through private email so let's just leave this as a civil NBD thread shall we?

To the OP, I hope it fills all your precision needs and would love to hear it through your rig. To my ears roundwound steels sounded best... my beloved (on fretless jazz at least) la bella low tension flexible flats didn't give me the motown thing I was hoping for, but the QP pickup could be factoring in there too. Let me know how it goes - cheers.

I'm very happy with the bass as it looks though. My old MIM P looked exactly like it and it was amazing. I'm not sold on the QP yet but I will make a final judgment after I play a few church services with them on if I don't like them, then I will switch to the CS62 which never failed me before.

Seller was more than willing to offer compensation if shipping was a factor in the neck's issues but we don't know that yet. I haven't tried the washer thing yet so everything is up in the air.

It may be in spec now but it may not stay that way. Personally I would want to know why the truss is maxed. Not to diss your tech but that is what truss rods are for.

Question; will the nut turn at all and if it does is the action affected?. If you paid for a bass in good working order I would expect one in good working order.

The bridge saddles shouldn't be that high (refer to photos on first page) but it was to compensate for the lack of movement in the truss rod. There is a local tech near my house I can take it to and ask him about it as well.

I abhor 5-string Ps. The uneven pickup looks...well...uneven. Hahaha.

I'm in the same situation. The only bass I played at church all last year was my P (G&L LB100). Everyone else plays on a J-type. This week I might take my L2000 just to see how it does with my new church's band (necessitated by a recent move...).

Keep us posted on how things work out for you~

My P-Bass sounds great at our church. I just bought a J-Bass and I used it in rehearsals today. I found myself playing with my pup/tone settings on the bass and on my preamp. The band loved the tone... but the simplicity of the P-bass... LOL... I'm still using the my new Jazz this Sunday... but it did cross my mind to bring my trusted P-bass.
