Just received the Rickenbacker 4003 (matte black) that I ordered/reserved this past November. Initially was told that it would be Feb/Mar before shipping, but lo and behold, showed up early. And I'm happy to say that there is not a blemish on this instrument - it looks perfect!

This was a blind-buy for me, as I've never had a chance to see/handle a Ric in person. It's got a different "feel" in the hands than my Fenders, so will take some getting used to (I've only been playing for a couple years, so there's that). And BTW, the strings that it comes with seem nice thus far. I prefer flats, but I'm going to keep these rounds on it for a while till we get better acquainted.

Beautiful bass! Welcome to the MBL club; I own the same bass and love it!
Thanks! Did you keep the pickup cover, or remove it? I'm thinking of removing it - I didn't realize how much I instinctively palm mute until now.

Awesome! looks like they finally did something with the bride setup. It's been a long time since I've looked at a new Rick.
Thanks! Noob question: What's the "bride setup"?

beautiful! congratulations on your new instrument!
Congrats!
Thanks!

Sorry guys. I was just saying that the whole bridge/tailpiece looks to be some kind of upgraded part as compared what I remember Ricks having. I know it was a constant source of consternation to some rick players and for so long they refused to change it. I was just commenting that it looked like they had finally changed it. Again, killer bass for sure!

Maybe poster meant bridge? I was wondering the same.

Gotchya. And I think I read somewhere that the bridge was changed recently (for the better).

Congrats
It won't take long, I found the neck to be similar in width to a P-bass, just a different shape (mine's a U-shape).
T.I. Jazz Flats sound great on a Ric. Enjoy
